Empathy & Symphony

Is it just me, or does that title bring a really cheesy tune to your head? If so, I apologize sincerely but I'm using it anyway. :)

Reading the portfolio suggestions for those two categories in Daniel Pink's A Whole New Mind, I was reminded of a book I picked up when I was taking a drawing class - I always think of it when I run into discussions of non-verbal communication:

I bought the book for my brother (the illustrator) later and he's said it's been very useful to him because he isn't as good at reading expressions. He's quite awesome at almost everything else, but it's funny to me that I can help him get caricatures more accurate because I have a more evolved ability to read expressions than he does. To each their own!
